Cindy Sherman Post

  • How does her work relate to transformation?
  • When she takes on a new piece she takes objects and clothing and turns it into a story. In a way she transforms herself into different person in a different time.
  • What are her processes?
  • Taking clothing from either her films, studio, or the thrift shop and turning herself into that character or just something that she feels fits. She then uses a green screen for backgrounds and a digital camera to capture the portraits.
  • What is her inspiration?
  • She says most of her inspirations come from her work over time through the film industry and just life. The props and models she has also help.
  • What are some of her concepts?
  •  fairy tales, centerfolds, history portraits, Hollywood/Hampton types, and clowns. All the pieces have been done over the last 30 years
